Avocado (Persea americana) is a tree native to Central Mexico, classified in the flowering plant family Lauraceae. Avocados are cultivated in tropical and Mediterranean climates throughout the world. In Europe it appears after the 2nd World War in Spain and Portugal, while it arrives in Greece a little bit later.
