Special Astronomy: Venus comes around

Everybody on your balconies or gardens, eyes fixed on the sky. Today, Wednesday 06, June from 13.10 until Thursday 07, June 07.38, the whole world will have the possibility to admire the straight passage of Venus between the Sun and the Earth. This rare astronomical phenomenon takes place twice every century, the last time it happened was on July 8th, 2004 and the next transit will appear for future generations in 105 years, in 2117.

To see Venus you will notice a black dot in front of the Sun as seen in the photo. The alignment of Venus, the Earth and the Sun corresponds to the transit of Venus in front of the disk of the Sun. Venus was a very important symbol of Maya, which they called the «Chak ek» (big star) and identify it to the god Kukulkan. The calendar of the Maya was mainly based on the cycles of Venus. In the Greek mythology, Aphrodite was the goddess of love and beauty. In the version of Hesiod of mythology, Aphrodite was born off the coast of Cythera from the foam created by Uranus’s genitals falling into the sea after the amputation of Saturn. The transit is a sign of great change, we are entering a new era where the Devine Feminine takes importance and will grow within each one of us to heal and balance relations on the Planet. We are moving to a heart-based living and the transit symbolizes the reactivation of the Solar Feminine.
